What is Integrity?
Wholeness. Health. Moral goodness. Knowing oneself. Being of service to others... but only to the extent that it aligns with our own inner truth. We recognise integrity in a person (or building) that can stand on their own, a person (or data) that you can trust. There is no such thing as perfect integrity: only a process of becoming more whole.
Integrity influences our health, but we can die with integrity. More importantly, we can LIVE with integrity.
To do that, like every living thing, we rely on four processes: perceiving, making meaning, choosing, and acting. At their most wise, these processes become the Four Powers. I call them Powers because they are each a capacity we possess for making ourselves whole - whole within, whole in relationship to those around us, and whole in relationship to All.
The Four Powers Cross illustrates the Learning Space we all inhabit, a world where we perceive some blend of risk and opportunity, known and unknown, at all times. And it shows which Powers we may be wise to emphasise, depending on how we perceive our context: Appreciative Awareness for Risk, Authentic Communication for the Unknown, Creative Responsibility for Opportunity, and Impeccable Completion for the Known.
The qualities of true happiness, wellbeing, and healthy power emerge when we are living with integrity.
"I pay attention to myself and others in a way that creates positive change."
"I resonate with, and express, my truth. I'm fully open to the truths of others."
"I take ownership of my experiences and my results in every situation, and I focus on creating what I most want."
"I ask for the agreements I want, keep my promises to myself and others or consciously change them, and if I break my word I clean up the consequences."
I'm in a process of editing my writing from the past twenty years and putting it online. I don't have a schedule. Your feedback is welcome.
